Climate Change
The Problem
Climate stress doesn't stop at the farm gate. For a herder in Ladakh, it's a winter at -30°C lit by kerosene because the grid never reached above 12,000 feet. For a small trader in an urban slum cluster, it's a heatwave that turns a tin-roofed shop into an oven, or a power cut that spoils the day's stock. For a smallholder farmer, it's a monsoon that no longer arrives on schedule, deciding in a single season whether a year's income holds or collapses. Across rural and urban India alike, the households contributing least to this crisis have the fewest resources to adapt.
The Solution
At ActImpact, we integrate climate action into every stage of what we design, for rural and urban communities alike, combining climate-smart agriculture, renewable energy, sustainable natural resource management, green enterprises, circular-economy practices, and community-led adaptation, rather than treating environment and livelihood as separate goals. As India works toward Viksit Bharat, we help make farms, small businesses, homes, and schools climate-resilient from the start, rather than retrofitted later at greater cost. We're extending this same approach (green skills, resource-efficient enterprise, resilient infrastructure) to the urban slum communities where our livelihood work already runs.
